  The Planning documentpoints out thatby 2030, Jiangsu’surbanization ratewillreach 80%, and the province’s cities andtownswillhave developed into such layout as“one belt, two axes, three areasand onepolar” then.by
  In particular, the“one belt”refers to thestring of cities along the Yangtze River;the“two axes”refer to the coastalcity axis and Donglonghai city axis; the“threeareas”includeNanjing,Xuzhou and Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhoumetropolitan areas.
  Asplanned in the document, amulti-tiercity systemmadeup of11mega cities thateach has apopulation ofoveronemillion,8 large cities, 35medium-sized cities, 7smallcities and 730 townswill take shapeby 2015.The number of extra large citieswill further total17by 2030.
